Common questions

Pricing and Quotes

Do you charge a call-out fee?

There's no charge just to have someone come and look at the job. Quotes are free whether you go ahead with the work or not, and you'll never see a call-out line on an invoice from us.

How do quotes work?

One of our electricians assesses the job on site and puts a fixed price on it before anything starts. That's the price you pay, agreed on the spot rather than estimated over the phone.

How do I pay?

Once the work's finished and you're happy with it, we take card or bank transfer for the exact figure you signed off on. Nothing gets added between the quote and the final invoice.

Do prices change once you start?

The quoted price holds unless something genuinely unexpected turns up once a wall or ceiling is opened. If that happens we stop work, walk you through what we found, and get your go-ahead on a revised number before touching anything further.

Common questions

Licensing and Safety

Are you licensed and insured?

NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C covers every job we take on, and full insurance sits behind it. Master Electricians Australia membership is the other credential worth checking, and both are a quick search on the public registers.

What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?

Think of it as a circuit's emergency brake. The moment it senses electricity leaking somewhere it shouldn't, power cuts before that leak becomes a shock. NSW law says every home needs one, yet a lot of older Artarmon properties are still missing them on some circuits.

What brands do you install?

Clipsal and Hager cover switches and safety gear, SAL and Beacon Lighting handle fittings and fixtures. We steer away from cheap import brands because they're the ones that fail first and cost more to replace.

Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?

Legally, no, beyond replacing a light globe or a fuse. DIY electrical work is illegal in NSW for good reason. Get a connection wrong and you're looking at a fire risk or a shock, not just a failed job.

Common questions

How Fast We Get to You

How soon can you fit me in?

Standard bookings are often same or next day. Genuine emergencies get bumped ahead of that, and we'll always give you an honest window rather than a number that sounds good on the phone.

Do you work weekends?

Weekend slots run alongside the weekday schedule, so Saturday work isn't unusual for us. Mention it's a weekend job at the time of booking and we'll slot you into what's already on.

How do I book?

Ring (02) 9139 8011 and describe the problem, or fill in the contact form and wait for our call back. Whichever way you reach us, a real person locks in the time, not an automated system.

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Sparking, a burning smell, exposed wiring or total loss of power all count. If you can safely reach the switchboard, flick off the affected circuit while you wait for us.

Common questions

Local Answers for Artarmon

Do you know Artarmon's housing stock?

The East Artarmon conservation area holds a heavy concentration of double-brick heritage cottages dating back to the 1910s and 1920s, most with the original tiled roofline still intact. Ceramic-fuse switchboards from that era turn up constantly on our jobs there, so we know exactly what we're walking into before we arrive.

What suburbs do you service?

Chatswood, St Leonards, Naremburn, Lane Cove and Willoughby all sit inside our regular coverage around Artarmon. If your address isn't on that shortlist, call anyway and we'll confirm it in seconds.

Why do Artarmon's older homes need switchboard upgrades?

The original Federation-era boards ran a handful of lights and one power circuit, nothing close to what a household plugs in these days. Ceramic fuses in the conservation area weren't designed to carry that draw. Upgrading swaps them for a board with proper capacity and safety switches.

How local are you, really?

We work Artarmon and the surrounding Willoughby area on a regular run rather than treating it as a one-off trip. Give us your street and we'll be straight with you about how soon we can get there.
